Syrian Rice with Meat
This dish brings together seasoned ground beef and rice, cooked in chicken stock until fluffy. Warm spices like allspice and cinnamon infuse the beef as it browns, then the rice absorbs all those flavors. A scattering of toasted pine nuts stirred in at the end adds a nice textural contrast.

Brown the Beef
Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, then season with salt, allspice, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until the beef is deeply browned and crumbly, about 7 to 10 minutes. The spices will become fragrant as they cook with the meat.

Simmer the Rice
Stir the chicken stock and rice into the browned beef in the saucepan, then bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it cook until all the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
