Lakra me Mish Cabbage and Meat Stew
This hearty cabbage and beef stew, sometimes called Lakra me Mish, is a slow-cooked dish that transforms simple ingredients into something comforting. You’ll start by browning beef and vegetables, then add spices and cabbage before a long simmer. The result is tender beef and soft, yielding cabbage, all in a rich, paprika-spiced broth. It’s the kind of stew that tastes even better the next day.

Brown Beef and Vegetables
Add a splash of olive oil to a sauté pan or saucepan (one with a lid) and heat it over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the diced onion, beef, and red peppers. Fry for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables have softened slightly. - 02
Add Spices
Stir in the paprika, tomato purée, and chili flakes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything together and continue to fry for another 2 minutes, letting the spices toast and become fragrant.
