Guacamole

   Prep the Avocados

   Carefully cut each avocado in half lengthwise. To remove the pit, gently tap your chef's knife into it and twist until it loosens, then lift it out. Use a spoon to scoop the soft avocado flesh from the skin directly into a bowl.

   Mash and Mix

   Using a fork, mash the avocado to your preferred consistency—some like it completely smooth, others prefer a few chunky bits. Stir in the 2 tablespoons onion, 1 tablespoon jalapeño pepper, 0.25 cup cilantro, 1 teaspoon basil, and 1 teaspoon oregano until everything is well combined.

   Season the Guacamole

   Now, season the mixture with 0.5 teaspoon salt, 0.125 teaspoon pepper, and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Give it a good stir and taste; you can always add a little more salt or lime if it needs it.

   Serve or Store

   Serve the guacamole immediately with your favorite chips or crudités. If you're not eating it right away, press a layer of plastic film directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning, then chill it in the refrigerator.
