   Preheat Oven

   Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Have a cast iron skillet or other oven-safe baking dish ready for the casserole.

   Boil and Mash Sweet Potatoes

   Put the 1-inch cubed sweet potatoes into a large pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender enough to easily pierce with a fork, which should take about 10–15 minutes.

   Remove the pot from the heat, drain the water, and transfer the cooked sweet potatoes to a large bowl. Mash them thoroughly until smooth.

   Mix Sweet Potato Base

   Into the bowl with the mashed sweet potatoes, stir in 1/2 cup of the melted butter, the heavy cream, 1/4 cup of the brown sugar, and the fine sea salt. Mix until everything is fully incorporated and smooth. Pour this mixture into your prepared cast iron skillet.

   Prepare Crumble Topping

   In a medium bowl, combine the remaining 1/3 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, flour, chopped pecans, and the crispy chopped bacon. Fold these ingredients together with a spoon or your fingertips until moist, chunky crumbles form. Evenly sprinkle this crumble mixture over the sweet potato mash in the skillet.

   Bake and Serve

   Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until the topping is a deep golden brown. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes before serving, allowing the casserole to set slightly.
