First, make the orange butter: In a small mixer bowl, beat together the 1/4 cup butter and orange peel at medium speed, scraping the bowl often, until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 1 to 2 minutes. Set this aside.
Next, prepare the egg wash. In a pie pan or shallow dish, stir together the 2 eggs, 1/3 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon orange peel.
In a 10-inch skillet or griddle, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Once the butter is shimmering, dip 4 croissant halves into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides evenly.
Remove the cooked croissants to a serving platter and keep them warm while you finish the rest. Repeat the cooking process with the remaining 2 tablespoons butter and the other 4 croissant halves.
Once all the croissants are cooked, dust them generously with 1/4 cup powdered sugar and serve immediately with the prepared orange butter and fresh strawberries.
