Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set this aside.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and both sugars until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is smooth.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the orange zest and chocolate chips. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving them plump rather than flattening them to ensure they stay soft.
