Classic Mint Julep

   Muddle and Build

   In a tall glass, combine the 6 sprigs of mint and 1 tablespoon of simple syrup. Use the handle of a spoon or a muddler to gently crush and mash the mint leaves, just enough to release their fragrant oils without tearing them apart.

   Fill the glass generously with crushed ice, then pour in the 1 ounce of bourbon. Using a tea spoon, jiggle the contents to mix and chill the drink thoroughly.

   Strain and Serve

   Strain the chilled mixture into a fresh julep cup, ensuring it's also filled to the brim with crushed ice.

   Garnish

   Garnish your julep with fresh mint sprigs.
