Kahlua Chocolate Cupcakes With Kahlua Frosting Recipe

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg whites until they're frothy. Gradually beat in the granulated sugar until the mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks. Set this aside.

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda together in another bowl.

Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the strong coffee and Kahlua. Blend until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

Gently fold the reserved egg whites into the batter. Fill prepared cupcake cups about two-thirds full.
